Chased for 1.5 km, removed shirt and then badtouched… Nagaland doctor racially abused in Gorakhpur AIIMS

Gorakhpur: A serious incident has come to light near AIIMS in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. A third-year resident doctor from Nagaland was subjected to racial abuse, stalking and physical assault. This incident happened around 8 pm on 22 February 2026, when the doctor was returning to the campus.

The doctor (resident of OBGYN department) was leaving Orion Mall and going towards AIIMS Gate No. 2. Three unidentified men followed him on a motorcycle for about 1.5 kilometres. He used racial slurs, made derogatory comments about his North-Eastern origin and made obscene remarks.

Near AIIMS gate, one of the accused took off his shirt to scare. One allegedly slapped her buttocks or touched her inappropriately. When the doctor raised an alarm, all three ran away.

Gorakhpur Senior Superintendent of Police Kaustubh said that a case has been registered at AIIMS police station. The accused motorcycle has been identified from the CCTV footage. Four police teams have been formed and the accused will be caught soon.

According to reports, two or three people have been arrested so far. The investigation is ongoing and strict action has been promised.

The National Federation of Resident Doctors of AIMS and INI (NAFORD) condemned this on social media. He called it a shocking case of racial harassment and sexual assault. The union said that it is very sad that this happened to a doctor serving women’s health near their institution.
