Chennai Super Kings claim a comprehensive 103-run victory over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings’ all-round performance was enough to beat the Mumbai Indians by 103 runs in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League 2026. Hardik Pandya’s decision to bowl first backfired as the visiting franchise reached 207 for 6 in 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium. The target of 208 proved too much for the five-time champions as they were dismissed for 104 runs in 19 overs, with Impact Sub Akeal Hosein taking four wickets.

He dismissed Danish Malewar (0), Naman Dhir (0), Tilak Varma (37), and Suryakumar Yadav (35). He was assisted by Noor Ahmad, who got rid of Hardik (1) and Sherfane Rutherford (0) in a span of two balls.

Earlier, Sanju Samson scored a hundred, his second of the IPL 2026. The right-handed batter amassed an unbeaten 101 runs off 54 balls, laced with 10 fours and 6 sixes, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 187.03. Several other batters got starts but were unable to make impactful contributions with the bat.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (22), Dewald Brevis (21), Kartik Sharma (18), Jamie Overton (15) and Sarfaraz Khan (15) had a chance to add important runs with Samson, but they were guilty of not showing intent.

AM Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar claimed two scalps each, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner dismissed one batter each. Hardik was the most expensive of the lot, conceding 38 runs from his two overs.

With their third win and six points, Chennai moved up to fifth position in the standings. Mumbai Indians have dropped down to eighth place, with just 4 points from 7 matches.
