Cheteshwar Pujara achieves this elusive feat in first class cricket, Check the details inside

Even as the talks around India’s Test team wax and wane in view of the 46 all out fiasco against New Zealand’s, the castaway man has made a class statement. Cheteshwar Pujara, who is 36 years old now, hit a double century for Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy against Chhattisgarh wrecking all opposition. Pujara is nine double centuries down in first class cricket, scoring contradictory the Indian batter where double centuries are concerned. Not only that but he also got to a significant distance from legendary Indian batter

Cheteshwar Pujara achieved his first 234 runs after the removal of Paras Dogra within the last innings thereby earning Saurashtra a draw. He reached that mark in 383 balls including 25 fours and a six.

Pujara has now amassed a total of nine double hundreds which has also reached him on the same pedestal as the ownership of most double hundreds by an Indian cricketer – Paras Dogra.

While it seems that that Pujara is on the outer of the Test hopefuls in India, in the domestic setup he still oozes class. Pujara last played for India in June in the home Test against Australia.

Ahead of a grueling five-match Test series which is scheduled for November December against Australia, Pujara reminded the selectors of his class. Pujara played an important role in winning India back to back Border-Gavaskar series in Australia.

In other developments, India are scheduled to play two more Test matches against New Zealand in a bid to level the series which currently stands at 1-0 against them.
