Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava will not clash with Pushpa 2, gets NEW release date

New Delhi: The much-anticipated Box Office clash between Chhaava and Pushpa 2: The Rule has been averted! Initially scheduled for release on December 6, the film has now been postponed to February 14, 2025. This strategic move not only avoids competition with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 but also aligns with a meaningful date—Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, celebrated on February 19.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava stars Vicky Kaushal as the fearless Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Rashmika Mandanna portrays his love interest Yesubai Bhonsale, while Akshaye Khanna takes on the role of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The cast of Chhaava also includes Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.

More about Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava

The film is said to be based on the Marathi novel छावा by Shivaji Sawant. The teaser, released earlier this year, left fans in awe, with Vicky Kaushal’s transformation into the Maratha warrior sparking widespread excitement amongst the fans of the Bollywood heartthrob. Adding to the grandeur, the music is composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Avoiding the Pushpa 2 clash

The decision to shift the release date seems wise, considering the massive buzz surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule. Directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the sequel to Pushpa: The Rise is being produced on a staggering budget. The first instalment turned Allu Arjun into a nationwide phenomenon, and expectations for the sequel are sky-high.

With Pushpa 2 all set to dominate the Box Office in December 2024, Chhaava now has a better chance to shine as a solo release during its February 2025 window.
