Chhapra poisonous liquor case: Methyl alcohol found in sample, ADG’s big revelation on death of 5 people

ADG has made a big revelation on the death of five people in Chapra, Bihar. ADG admitted that five people had died due to poisonous liquor in Chapra, Bihar. ADG Amit Kumar Jain admitted that methyl alcohol (spirit) was mixed in the liquor sample.

ADG said that methyl alcohol in liquor was the cause of death. Police have registered a case against a total of 4 people in this matter. 10 accused were named in this incident, out of which six accused have been arrested. At present, raids are being conducted to arrest other accused. Investigation is going on in the poisonous liquor case.

ADG Amit Kumar gave this information on Tuesday (March 17) in response to a question asked during the press conference. He further said that since the formation of Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau in September 2025, there has been a continuous increase in the seizure of illegal liquor. An average of 9 percent more liquor has been recovered per month in 2025 as compared to 2024, and an average of 18 percent more liquor has been recovered per month in 2026 as compared to 2025.

After the incident, till now 1050 liters of spirit has been recovered in Panapur, while 650 liters of spirit has been recovered in Mashrak. After the celebration of Holi, this poisonous liquor scandal has once again raised serious questions on the entire system.

Let us tell you that after Holi, five people had died in Mashrak and Panapur of Saran. Due to this incident, questions are now being raised on the liquor ban law. Recently, there was a demand for review of this law by both the ruling party and the opposition. The death of five people in Mashrak and Panapur areas has not only left families devastated, but has also raised a big question mark on the effectiveness of the prohibition law implemented in the state.
