Good Morning Chhath Puja 2024: Send heartfelt wishes and images to loved ones

Mumbai: Chhath Puja, an esteemed Hindu festival honouring the Sun God, will be celebrated with deep devotion from November 5 to November 8, 2024, across India and Nepal. Known for its series of meaningful rituals, the festival centres on prayers for health, prosperity, and overall well-being, with significant cultural and spiritual relevance, particularly in regions like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.

Rooted in ancient traditions, Chhath Puja’s origins trace back to Queen Karnavati, who prayed fervently for her son’s health, establishing the festival’s enduring importance.

Observed twice each year, Chhath Puja is celebrated in both the Chaitra (spring) and Kartik (autumn) months, with the Kartik observance carrying greater importance for devotees. This year, Kartik Chhath will commence on November 5 with the ‘Nahay Khay’ ritual and conclude on November 8 with the ‘Usha Arghya,’ drawing thousands of worshippers to participate in these vibrant celebrations. The festival includes offerings, or ‘Arghya,’ made to both the setting and rising sun, expressing gratitude and reverence to the Sun God.

Chhath Puja 2024 Dates and Rituals Schedule

November 5 (Tuesday): Nahay Khay – A ritual bath followed by a meal of rice, pumpkin, and dal marks the start of the festival, symbolising purity and spiritual cleansing.

November 6 (Wednesday): Kharna – Devotees observe a day-long fast, breaking it at sunset with a simple meal of rice pudding and chapati. Following this, they begin a rigorous 36-hour waterless fast, reflecting deep commitment and faith.

November 7 (Thursday): Sandhya Arghya – Devotees gather by water bodies to offer ‘Arghya’ to the setting sun, a ritual that draws large crowds and embodies cultural unity.

November 8 (Friday): Usha Arghya – Concluding with an offering to the rising sun, this ritual symbolises new beginnings. After breaking their fast, devotees share prasad with loved ones, celebrating the festival’s communal spirit.

Significance of Chhath Puja

Chhath Puja is celebrated with the belief that the Sun God bestows blessings of health, happiness, and prosperity upon devotees. Traditionally observed near rivers or ponds, particularly along the Ganga, the festival showcases a deep respect for nature. Beyond personal devotion, it brings together families and communities, strengthening social ties and preserving cultural values for future generations.

Chhath Puja invites devotees to embrace rituals that honour both heritage and the environment, fostering unity and reaffirming faith through age-old traditions.

As we honour the Sun God and seek blessings for health, prosperity, and well-being, sharing Good Morning images during Chhath Puja can bring an extra layer of positivity and warmth to this sacred occasion. Each day, sending beautiful morning wishes to family and friends allows us to spread joy and devotion, connecting with loved ones as we embrace the spirit of Chhath Puja.
