Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai formally inaugurated the divisional level Bastar Olympics.

Chhattisgarh News: Your Chief Minister is from among your society, he is your brother…you move ahead, the government stands with you at every step. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said this while addressing the inauguration of division level competition under Bastar Olympics 2025 today. Chief Minister Sai today formally inaugurated the division level Bastar Olympics at the local Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Jagdalpur. He encouraged the players of the entire Bastar division. During this, players from all the seven districts of Bastar division mesmerized the audience by presenting an attractive marchpast.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that the government is making every possible effort to bring development to every village of Bastar, as a result of which Bastar is now continuously moving towards peace, harmony and prosperity and is making important contribution in the development of the state and the country. Chief Minister Sai said that the youth of Bastar have made it successful and historic by participating in this important event in large numbers. The most heartening thing is that the participants of Nuwabat have also enthusiastically participated in Bastar Olympics and given it a special dimension. The participation of a large number of daughters and sisters proves that women empowerment is taking a new direction in Bastar. Chief Minister Sai said that the government is committed to connecting the youth of Bastar with the mainstream of the society and making them participants in development. This is the reason why the youth of Bastar are coming forward with faith and belief in democracy and playing an active role in the development journey. Chief Minister Sai said that the winners of Bastar Olympic Sports Competition will become role models for the players in the times to come. The government will prepare the youth of Bastar for international level competitions by providing better opportunities and training. He said that players who win gold, silver and bronze medals in international Olympic competitions will be given an honor fund of Rs 3 crore, Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively.

Addressing the program, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said that Bastar Olympics is not only an initiative to advance the youth through sports, but is also a medium to include them in the mainstream of development. He said that the sports infrastructure in Bastar will be further strengthened, so that players can get a proper platform. While motivating the players, he said that as much as sports teaches, it also inspires them to learn from defeat and move ahead. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma also encouraged the players and said that Bastar Olympics is a positive effort to connect the youth with the mainstream of development. He said that the government is encouraging the youth of the interior areas of Bastar by giving them more opportunities and this initiative will continue in a more powerful form in the future.

On this occasion, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and medalist Padmashree M.C., who won medals in other international competitions including Olympic bronze medal, were present. Mary Kom was also present and encouraged the players and wished them all the best.
Director, Sports and Youth Welfare, Ms. Tanuja Salam informed in the welcome address that about three thousand five hundred players from Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur and Bastar districts as well as Nuwa Baat are participating in the divisional level competition of Bastar Olympics.

He said that this is a moment of pride for Bastar and this decision taken by the state government for the bright future of Bastar is highly commendable. Talents are being provided a platform through three levels of competitions in Bastar Olympics. He also informed that this year more than 3,92,000 participants have registered as compared to last year’s 1,65,000 participants, including more than 2,27,000 women participants – this is a new wind of change in Bastar. The program started with lighting of torch by the players and fireworks. After this, as part of colorful cultural programs, captivating presentations were given by the students of Mata Rukmani Kanya Ashram and other schools. On this occasion, MLA Chitrakot Vinayak Goyal, MLA Dantewada Chaitram Atami, national players Kiran Pisda and Khushboo Nag, senior administrative officers, nodal officers of the districts, sports officers, trainers and a large number of sports lovers and distinguished citizens were present.

The division level competition of Bastar Olympics 2025 started today in a very dignified and enthusiastic atmosphere. The program was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, ministers and boxer Padmashree Mary Kom. In the presence of thousands of spectators, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai lit the torch of Bastar Olympics. After this, this glorious torch was handed over to Vijay Dodi, a talented player from the remote area Purvi of Sukma district and Saloni Kawachi, a resident of Orchha block of Narayanpur district.

Kabaddi player Vijay Dodi and Kho-Kho player Saloni Kawachi circled the ground with full enthusiasm, energy and pride and carried the torch to the main lighting point. This moment was extremely proud and emotional for Sukma and Narayanpur districts – when players from Maoist-affected and remote areas were running with confidence in front of thousands of spectators. The enthusiasm of the audience also reached its peak during this period. Thousands of players and spectators from across the division enthusiastically welcomed this historic moment. This grand inauguration of Bastar Olympics once again proved that immense sports talents are being born in the soil of Bastar and with the joint efforts of the state government and administration, concrete steps are being taken towards giving recognition to these talents at the national and international level.
