Chhattisgarh Liquor Scam: Big relief to Bhupesh Baghel’s son Chaitanya, gets bail from High Court
On Friday, January 2, 2026, Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister of the state Bhupesh Baghel, got a big relief in the much-discussed liquor scam case of Chhattisgarh. Bilaspur High Court has approved his bail plea. The single bench of Justice Arvind Verma of Bilaspur High Court has given this decision. Let us tell you that he has got bail in EOW and ED cases. Investigation is ongoing in other cases.
Congress workers celebrated Chaitanya Baghel getting bail. Chaitanya Baghel has been arrested by ED in the liquor scam case. He got bail from the court after the final charge sheet was filed. Recently ED had filed the final charge sheet in the liquor scam.
Chaitanya Baghel, arrested in the liquor scam case, is lodged in Raipur Central Jail since July 18. ED lawyer said that Chhattisgarh High Court has granted bail to Chaitanya in two cases related to liquor scam. He will be released from jail after approximately 168 days.
This is the whole matter
Chaitanya Baghel was arrested in the liquor scam case that took place between 2019 and 2022. ED alleges that Chaitanya Baghel was the patron of this entire liquor syndicate and he personally handled transactions worth about Rs 1,000 crore. Apart from this, ACB claims that Chaitanya Baghel got Rs 200 to 250 crore as share and the total amount of this entire scam could be more than Rs 3,200 crore.
Arrests in liquor scam case
Apart from Chaitanya Baghel, the ED team has also arrested many senior IS officers, politicians and businessmen in the Chhattisgarh liquor scam. Not only this, the ED team has also arrested former state minister Kawasi Lakhma in this case. Apart from this, Secretary Soumya Chaurasia, posted in the CM office, has been arrested a few days ago.
Bhupesh Baghel’s statement on getting bail for son Chaitanya
Former CM Bhupesh Baghel’s statement has come out on son Chaitanya getting bail. While talking to the media, he said that it is a matter of satisfaction and happiness that relief has been received from the High Court. Chaitanya Baghel was arrested only on the basis of the statement of an absconding person. Truth can be troubled, but it cannot be defeated.
