Chhattisgarh News: Employment Day in all Gram Panchayats of Jashpur, employment opportunities increased through MNREGA

Chhattisgarh News: In Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, Employment Day was organized in all the Gram Panchayats with the aim of effective implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) and providing timely employment to the rural families. During this, a large number of villagers participated and registered their demand for employment and got information about various public welfare schemes of the government. The main objective of the program was to make the villagers aware of their right to employment and to provide them maximum benefits of the schemes.

Information given about the process of getting employment

Special camps were organized at Panchayat level during Employment Day. In these camps, villagers were given detailed information about the process of getting employment under MNREGA, making job cards and getting them amended, work demand registration, wage payment system and other provisions of the scheme. Public representatives, employment assistants, technical assistants and Panchayat employees played an active role in the program.

On this occasion, employment demand applications for upcoming works were also received. New job cards of eligible families were made and work of updating old job cards was also done. The complaints and problems received at the Panchayat level were resolved immediately and the villagers were motivated to take the benefits of the schemes.

Special emphasis was placed on water conservation works

During the Employment Day, information about water conservation and promotion works going on under MNREGA was also given. Officials said that employment opportunities are being created in the district through works like Soak Pit, Contour Trench, Water Absorption Trench (WAT), Nava Tariya, Aajeevika Dabri, pond construction and tree plantation.

The benefits of these schemes are not limited to employment only, but through them important work is also being done towards increasing the ground water level, conservation of natural resources and improvement in agricultural production. This is helping in increasing the income of rural families and ensuring overall development of villages.

Promote participation of women and youth

Special attention was paid to increasing the participation of women, youth and weaker sections of the society in Employment Day. Women associated with self-help groups were given information about MNREGA and livelihood promotion programs. Also, efforts were made to connect them with various self-employment and employment based schemes.

The district administration believes that Employment Day is not only a program to provide employment, but it is also an effective platform to inform the villagers about the schemes, solve their problems and ensure their participation in development works.
