Chhattisgarh: Collector conducted surprise inspection of paddy procurement centers – keeping an eye on every movement of the media world.
Show cause notice given to Chikhalaksa center manager for weighing paddy more than prescribed quantity
Chhattisgarh News: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has been directed to take strict action to keep the system of purchasing paddy at support price completely transparent, fair and farmer friendly. Under which Balod Collector Divya Umesh Mishra today conducted a surprise inspection of various paddy procurement centers of Daundilohra and Daundi development blocks and thoroughly investigated the arrangements. During the inspection, the Collector made a close inspection of the documents available in Ganji of Daundilohra development block and Chikhalaksa, Kotagaon, Bharritola and Ghotia paddy procurement centers of Daundi development block. He reviewed in detail the total quantity of paddy purchased so far, village-wise average yield, status of area dedication and register maintenance.

Strict action taken if paddy is found in excess of prescribed quantity
During the inspection of the paddy procurement center Chikhlakasa located in Daundi development block, the Collector got the paddy sacks weighed on the spot. During weighing, the quantity of paddy in four different sacks was found to be about 41 kg, more than the prescribed standard of 40 kg 680 grams. Expressing her deep displeasure over this serious irregularity, Collector Mrs. Mishra strongly reprimanded the committee manager and employees and directed the committee manager Mr. Bhagwan Singh Thakur to issue a show cause notice. He clarified that any kind of negligence or violation of rules in the paddy procurement process will not be acceptable at all.
Special emphasis on area dedication and verification
During the inspection of paddy procurement center Ganji, the Collector took information about the status of area surrender and also reviewed the number of farmers having one token as well as farmers having area more than 02 acres and more than 10 acres. During this, he discussed with Mr. Deepak Yamle, a farmer who had come to sell the paddy, and advised him to compulsorily surrender the remaining area after selling the paddy. On receiving information that the farmer had kept about 130 quintals of paddy left in his house, the Collector instructed a joint team of Rural Agriculture Extension Officer, Patwari and concerned officers to be sent to the farmer’s house to do physical verification.
Strictness on quality and moisture checking also
During the inspection, Collector Mishra observed the paddy brought by the farmers for sale in the paddy procurement centers and gave instructions to compulsorily check the moisture with a moisture measuring device. He advised the farmers to bring only clean and quality paddy for sale.

Necessary instructions given to nodal officer and monitoring committee
At the paddy procurement center Chikhalaksa, the Collector took information about the arrangements from the nodal officer, committee manager and monitoring committee members. He reviewed the area surrender register and reviewed the number of farmers who have surrendered so far and directed that the nodal officers and monitoring committee members should compulsorily be present at the procurement center every morning and ensure smooth completion of the paddy procurement work. He also directed that in case of double token, paddy should be purchased only after area verification. Besides, information was also taken about the number of farmers who have sold paddy so far, the total purchased quantity and comparison with the average purchase of last year. During the inspection, Collector Mrs. Mishra interacted with the farmers present on the spot and took feedback regarding the arrangements at the procurement centers and appealed to compulsorily surrender the remaining area after the sale of paddy. On this occasion, many farmers also dedicated the remaining area on the spot.
