Chidambaram says he watched Kamal Haasan’s Marudhanayagam in 4K
He went on to add, “There is some footage of it online. However, the remastered 4K version has more content, and I think Mahesh Narayanan edited it. It was a great scene,” the director added.
Marudhanayagam was announced way back in 1997 at a big event featuring Queen Elizabeth II as a special guest. Kamal co-wrote the script for the film alongside famous novelist Sujatha. It had a proposed budget of around 80 crore, positioning it as one of the costliest and most ambitious film projects in India at the time. However, the film from director-producer-actor Kamal Haasan had to be shelved because of budget constraints.
Recently, Kamal expressed his interest in reviving the film. Speaking to a reporter at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, the actor said, “I have interest in reviving it. With today’s technological advancements, I hope that this is also possible.”
Coming back to Chidambaram, the director’s latest film Balan: The Boy has opened in theatres to positive reviews from critics and audiences.
