Latest News :- Current Chief Justice Chandrachud has nominated Sanjiv Khanna as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. After the approval of the President, Sanjeev Khanna will take over as the 51st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court next month. TY Chandrachud took oath as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in December 2022. The retirement age of Supreme Court judges is 65 years. According to this, Chief Justice Chandrachud will retire on November 10.

In this connection, the Union Law Ministry had sent a letter to him last week asking him to nominate him as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In this case, Chandrachud has recommended the name of Justice Sanjeev Khanna for the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Sanjeev Khanna was born in 1960 in Delhi. Studied law from Stephens College, Delhi in 1980.

He was appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2016 and a judge of the Supreme Court in 2019. Sanjiv Khanna is the senior most judge in the Supreme Court after Chief Justice Chandrachut. In such a situation, his name has been suggested as the next Chief Justice. Sanjiv Khanna will take over as the 51st Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after the retirement of Chandrachud, subject to the approval of President Diravati Murmu. He will serve as the Chief Justice for 6 months till May 13, 2025.
