Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that PRTC 250 new buses flagged off in the fleet
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today inaugurated 250 new PRTC in Patiala. Flagging off the buses was described as a major step towards strengthening public transport, creating employment and accelerating the pace of development across Punjab. What did CM say on the increase in bus fleet?
Sharing details of increase in bus fleet, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that PRTC has flagged off 250 new buses in Patiala today. Inducted into the fleet. This will strengthen public transport and will also create new employment opportunities for the youth. More than 300 more buses will be delivered to PRTC in the coming days. Talking about the scale of expansion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that by the end of May 2026, PRTC will be operational. 254 ordinary and 100 mini buses will be included in the fleet. He also said that tenders have already been issued for 309 more buses, which will greatly strengthen the state’s transport network.
Speaking about the employment prospects, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This will also pave the way for creating employment opportunities for 681 persons.” He said, “PRTC will be operational during 2024. About 110 buses were included in the fleet, which provided employment to 165 persons. He further said, “Tender has also been issued to include 309 more buses, which will provide employment to 928 persons.”
Citing the improved financial condition of the corporation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “PRTC. PRTC has registered a growth of 53 percent in the total revenue, which has increased from Rs 607.09 crore in the financial year 2021-22 to Rs 927.83 crore in the financial year 2024-25.” He further said, ”In the current financial year 2025-26, PRTC. Its total revenue is expected to cross Rs 950 crore, which represents a growth of approximately 57 percent.
Reiterating the AAP government’s commitment towards welfare, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “From 2022, PRTC. PRTC has provided free travel facility to 34.63 crore women pilgrims of Punjab at a cost of Rs 1574 crore.” He further said, ”Under the Chief Minister Teerth Yatra Scheme, PRTC. Provided free HVAC worth Rs 2.21 crore. Provided the facility of bus travel, due to which 9,529 passengers got the opportunity to visit religious places in and outside Punjab.
Linking the expansion of transport to comprehensive development, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “With the expansion of the bus fleet, people in both urban and rural areas will be able to travel safely and comfortably.” He further said that Punjab is rapidly moving on the path of development and the government is further accelerating its efforts to bridge the gap of decades.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Our government is carrying out multidimensional development to restore Punjab’s old glory by making it ‘Rangla Punjab’.”
Giving details of the development works in the area, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “After taking charge of Punjab, our government has spent about Rs 400 crore on the development works of various departments in Patiala Rural Assembly constituency, which has changed its overall face.” He further said that crores of rupees have been continuously invested to strengthen the infrastructure and public services from the year 2022.
On agriculture, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “To make the agriculture sector profitable again, our government has spent Rs 60 crore on various initiatives through the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.”
Highlighting reforms in healthcare, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In the last four years, Rs 7.91 crore has been spent on three projects through the Department of Health and Family Welfare, while currently an additional Rs 14.54 crore is being spent on the expansion of health services.”
On education, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “With an aim to provide world-class school education to the children of Punjab, the government has spent Rs 825.22 crore on eight projects through the School Education Department between the year 2022 and the year 2026. Apart from this, many other projects worth Rs 80.92 crore are going on at present.
Focusing on infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Rs 6.71 crore has been spent on 17 works through the Public Works Department, while 11 other works are underway at a cost of Rs 21.02 crore.” Apart from this, Rs 23.03 crore will be spent on 21 other projects.
Regarding rural infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed, “Rs 12.98 crore has been spent on eight works through the Punjab Mandi Board, which include repair, new construction and expansion of mandi infrastructure. Apart from this, work is in progress.
Highlighting the flood prevention measures, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Rs 1.27 crore has been spent on river cleaning and flood control works from the year 2022 and many other projects are underway.”
On urban and sewerage infrastructure, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Rs 1.34 crore has been spent on two works through the Sewerage Board, while two major projects worth Rs 366 crore are in progress to further strengthen the infrastructure.”
Elaborating on the urban development, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “In the last four years, Rs 42.16 crore has been spent on 114 works in the wards through the Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, many projects are going on and many are in progress.
What did CM say on water conservation?
Regarding water conservation, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Rs 1.24 crore has been spent on underground pipelines and water conservation works through the Soil Conservation Department. Along with this, it will be further strengthened by the ongoing new projects.
He highlighted investments in departments including Rural Development, Patiala Development Authority, Punjab State Electricity Corporation Limited, Panchayati Raj, and Water Supply and Sanitation. He said that work is going on on a large scale to strengthen the infrastructure and improve the quality of life.
Seeking support from the people, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed, “We need the support and cooperation of all of you to continue these development works at the same pace.” He further said, “I am confident that just as you supported our party wholeheartedly in the last elections, you will support us in the same way in the 2027 elections.”
