Chief Minister celebrated Sarhul festival with pomp, gave message of creating harmony with nature

Jharkhand News: Sarhul, the major festival of tribes in Jharkhand, was celebrated with great pomp across the state. Worship was performed with traditional rituals at sarna sites (places of worship) across the state. Special puja was organized at the tribal hostel and Sirmtoli Sarna place located on Jail Road, Ranchi. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, MLA Kalpana Soren, Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey and Mayor Roshni Khalkho were present in the program.

Inspiration to live not Sarhul festival

On the occasion of Sarhul festival, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that it is not just a festival but gives the message of living in harmony with nature. Balance with nature is the key to a secure and prosperous future. Sarhul festival inspires to understand and conserve the importance of water, forest and land. During this, the Chief Minister also extended best wishes for Eid and Sarhul.

On this occasion, MLA Kalpana Soren told about the cultural importance of Sarhul festival. Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey said that the tribal society celebrates this festival every year with traditional customs. This shows his faith in nature. People are celebrating this festival with traditional costumes, dance and music.

Importance of Sarhul festival

Sarhul festival is the main festival of the tribes of Jharkhand. This festival is considered the beginning of the new year. In tribal tradition, the Sal tree (Sakhua) and its flowers are considered sacred. This festival is celebrated for the arrival of new crop, to express gratitude towards water, forest and land and for the union of Sun and Earth. The Sal tree is worshiped in this festival.
