Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s strong statement on Vande Mataram, said- this mantra is the inspiration for India’s independence.

Vande Mataram: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made important points during the discussion on Vande Mataram in the winter session of the Assembly. He said that Vande Mataram is a mantra which infused new energy into the country’s freedom movement. It is a matter of pride for all of us to remember this mantra in this House, because it is a symbol of the ascetic journey of our freedom struggle.

Flame of sacrifice, renunciation and penance

The Chief Minister further said, “We are proud to complete 150 years of Vande Mataram. This mantra has lit the flame of sacrifice, renunciation and penance in the hearts of crores of Indians. He also said that Vande Mataram was composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875 and it was not just a song but a cultural response.

Emotional leadership in achieving independence for India

Highlighting the historical importance of Vande Mataram, Saini said, “Vande Mataram provided emotional leadership in achieving independence for India in 1947. Had it not been for the spirit of Vande Mataram, we would not have been able to sit in this House as public representatives today.

Point towards opposition to Jinnah

The Chief Minister also pointed to Jinnah’s opposition to Vande Mataram in 1937 and said that on October 26, Congress broke the spirit of Vande Mataram as per the agreement. He alleged that under the pressure of appeasement politics, an attempt was made to change the real meaning of Vande Mataram.

Chief Minister called upon the House

Also mentioning the launch of Vande Mataram campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 7, Saini said that the Central and Haryana governments have decided to celebrate it throughout the year. The Chief Minister called upon the House that we all should together adopt Vande Mataram not just as a song but as a mantra of life and imbibe its spirit in our conduct.
