Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today participated in the program “Journey of Chhattisgarhi Films on the occasion of Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee” organized by Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium located in the Science College campus of the capital Raipur. On this occasion, the Chief Minister shared his views in detail on the development journey, achievements and bright future of Chhattisgarhi cinema.

In his address, Chief Minister Sai recalled the contribution of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in the formation of Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation and said that he has played an important role in laying the strong foundation of Chhattisgarh. Remembering the virtues of the first president of the corporation, late Rajesh Awasthi, he said that his untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only for Chhattisgarhi cinema but for the entire state.

Chief Minister Sai said that Chhattisgarhi cinema has today entered a new phase. Describing Sumona Sen, the current chairperson of the corporation, as an experienced, hard-working and dedicated artiste, he expressed confidence that under her leadership, the all-round development of Chollywood will be ensured. The Chief Minister said that in the coming times, Chhattisgarhi films will establish the culture, art and identity of the state in a more powerful form at the national and international level.

Referring to the historical journey of film production in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Sai said that the process of production of films in the state started from the year 1957. He described the National Award received by the film “Bhulan the Maze” based on the novel Bhulan Kanda as a matter of pride for the entire state. The Chief Minister said that the roots of Chhattisgarhi cinema are deeply connected with folk culture, folklore and social concerns, which gives it a unique identity. He said that Chhattisgarhi cinema is a living document of our folk culture and identity.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full seriousness and commitment for the development of Chhattisgarhi films. In this sequence, Chitrotpala Film City is being constructed, for which an amount of Rs 150 crore has been sanctioned. He expressed confidence that the future of Chollywood in the state is golden and the government will provide all possible support to take the film industry to new heights.

While congratulating the silver jubilee year of Chhattisgarh state, Chief Minister Sai said that this historic year is writing a new story of all-round development of the state. He expressed hope that this program will prove to be a milestone in the direction of Chhattisgarhi film development.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai also honored producers and senior artists Mohan Sundarani, Satish Jain, Santosh Jain, Manoj Verma, Anuj Sharma and Prem Chandrakar who have made significant contributions to Chhattisgarhi cinema.

Addressing the program, Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation President Sumona Sen congratulated Chief Minister Sai and expressed her gratitude to him for the restructuring of the corporation. He thanked Satish Jain, the producer of Chhattisgarhi film “Mor Chhainha Bhuinya”, and said that this film played an important role in giving a new identity to Chhattisgarhi cinema. He also reiterated his commitment towards the overall and sustainable development of Chhattisgarhi film industry.

On this occasion, Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, MLAs Sunil Soni, Purandar Mishra, Anuj Sharma, Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Chairman Deepak Mhaske, Chhattisgarh Fishermen Welfare Board Chairman Bharat Matiyara, Chhattisgarh Telghani Development Board Chairman Jitendra Sahu, Culture Department Director Vivek Acharya and a large number of artists, producers and distinguished citizens were present.
