New Delhi: The European country Albania has decided to ban TikTok for one year, keeping in mind the increasing negative impact of social media on children. This step was taken after the murder of a 14-year-old school student, after which questions were raised on the role of social media. The ban was announced after Albanian Prime Minister Idi Rama met with teachers and parents. This decision will come into effect from 2025.

Some videos also surfaced in which violence by school children was being justified. Prime Minister Rama blamed social media, especially TikTok, for this incident and said, “Today's problem is not children, but we and our society. The problem is TikTok and such platforms, which push children towards violence and other evils. Are.” He clarified that the use of TikTok will be completely banned in Albania for the next one year.
These countries also took strict steps
Before Albania, countries like France, Germany and Belgium have also taken strict steps to limit the influence of social media on children. Australia has imposed a complete ban on social media for children under 16 years of age.
TikTok responded
Responding to this ban, TikTok said that it is gathering full information about the matter from the Albanian government. A company spokesperson said it was not yet clear whether the children related to the incident had TikTok accounts. According to some reports, the videos related to the incident were not uploaded on TikTok, but on other social media platforms.
