China News In Hindi: China has once again increased strictness on the religious and cultural identity of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang. Local authorities have declared many traditional folk songs and contemporary songs in the Uyghur language as ‘questionable’ It has been banned by agreement. Now keeping these songs in mobile phone or sharing them on social media will be considered a serious crime for which strict jail punishment has been provisioned.

These banned songs include the famous folk song of the Uyghur community ‘Besh Pede’ Which has been an important part of weddings and family celebrations for years. This song expresses the feelings of a young man, in which he prays to God for love and a happy life.

Action will be taken even if shared

Experts say that there is neither any hint of violence nor any kind of fanaticism in this song, yet it has been put in the banned list. After the police meeting held in Kashgar in October, it was made clear that strict legal action would be taken against sharing such songs.

Islamic greetings also banned

According to analysts, this policy of China is not limited to just music, but is an organized effort towards weakening the entire cultural and religious identity of the Uighurs. The administration introduced the traditional Islamic greeting ‘Assalaamu Alaikum’ Use of has also been banned.

Instead, people are being asked to utter slogans or sentences that show loyalty to the Communist Party. This is being seen as a strategy to impose communist ideology by suppressing religious beliefs. In this sequence, a Uyghur music producer has been sentenced to three years in jail for merely composing songs and sharing them.

Deep concern is being expressed in the international community regarding these actions of China. Human rights organizations claim that between 2017 and 2019, about one million Uighurs and other minorities were held in detention camps without trial.

The United Nations had also said in its report released in 2022 that the human rights violations taking place in Xinjiang could fall under the category of crimes against humanity. However, China has been continuously denying these allegations and says that these steps have been taken to control terrorism and religious extremism which maintains peace and stability in the region.
