China Iran military support: In the latest report of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, serious claims have been made regarding the increasing military cooperation between China and Iran. According to the report, China has provided Iran with the raw materials used in preparing offensive drones and rocket fuel. Particular mention has been made of sodium perchlorate, which is considered an important part of the solid fuel of missiles. This disclosure is considered very important from the point of view of global security.

Supply through ships and old records

According to the report, in the beginning of March 2026, two Iranian government ships departed from China’s Gaolan Port, which are suspected to contain this sensitive material. Earlier also in January 2025, China had sent about 1000 tons of sodium perchlorate to Iran. This shows that military cooperation between the two countries has not been increasing suddenly but has been continuously increasing for some time. These activities indicate that Iran is rapidly strengthening its missile and drone capabilities.

Satellite systems and arms deals

The report also claims that Iran can now use China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System. It was told that in 2021, China had given military access to this system to Iran, due to which its drone and missile attacks can be more accurate. Additionally, China was also involved in a possible arms deal with Iran before the attacks by the United States and Israel in February 2026. Preparations for selling the anti-ship cruise missile had even been made, although the delivery date could not be decided.

Changing attitude and increasing partnership

According to the report, China previously avoided giving arms directly, especially after the 2015 UN sanctions. But now its stance seems to be changing and it is indirectly providing military technology and resources to Iran. Both the countries are strengthening their partnership through platforms like Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.

Iran’s hosting of SCO joint military exercises in December 2025 is a sign of this growing closeness. All this is happening at a time when tension is continuously increasing in West Asia and global concern about Iran’s military power is deepening.
