These exercises have started at a time when America had announced a record $11.1 billion arms package to Taiwan. Just 11 days after this announcement, China started military exercises, which clearly shows Beijing’s displeasure and tough stance. The Chinese Defense Ministry has already made it clear that in response to any such step, it will not hesitate to take harsh and forceful action if necessary.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry has confirmed that firing took place in the northern direction on Tuesday morning and debris fell in the area around 24 nautical miles.
