Six years after the conflict in Galwan Valley, suddenly a senior officer of the People’s Liberation Army has praised the Indian Army. Rear Admiral Yu Jian of the People’s Liberation Army has come to India as China’s defense attache. During this, he praised the Indian Army for saving the lives of the Chinese crew.

On Tuesday, an event was organized in Delhi on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. In this program, Yu Jian, who was appointed as the new defense attache of China in India, said during the speech that the relations between the two countries have moved on the path of improvement. According to news agency ANI, he said, ‘China and India are important neighbors and both are in an important stage of development and rejuvenation.’

Indian Army praised for the rescue of Chinese crew

The Chinese Defense Attache said, ‘We are happy to see that under the strategic guidance of our leaders, relations between India and China have returned to the proper path of improvement and development.’ Meanwhile, he also praised the rescue operation conducted by the Indian Army near the coast of Kerala in June 2025. He said, ‘We will not forget that last June, 12 Chinese crew were rescued by the Indian Military from a cargo ship which had exploded and caught fire off the coast of Kerala.’ Apart from this, the Chinese military officer also mentioned the contribution of both the armies in the United Nations Peace Keeping Force.

About the rescue operation of Indian security forces

The incident mentioned by the Chinese official happened on June 9, 2025. The Singapore-flagged container ship MV Van Hai 503 caught fire after the explosion, about 44 nautical miles off the Azhikkal coast of Kerala. This ship was coming from Colombo towards Nhava Sheva (Mumbai). The soldiers who jumped into the sea from the burning ship were saved. Indian soldiers had saved 18 crewmen who jumped into the sea, while four had gone missing. News came from the Chinese Embassy that out of the 18 rescued crew, 12 were Chinese. Even at that time, the Chinese Embassy had praised the Indian Navy and Coast Guard for their prompt action.
