Chinese creator goes viral for for sprinkling flour on hair to impersonate world’s eighth-richest billionaire Jensen Huang
Yang, who lives in a village in Liaoning Province, has posted more than 20 videos on Douyin over the past two weeks under the username huangyinxun, a northeastern Chinese dialect pronunciation of Huang’s Chinese name, the South China Morning Post reported.
His most popular video has garnered 15 million views. By early June, his account had gained 54,000 followers, while his livestreams regularly drew as many as 20,000 concurrent viewers.

To create the look, Yang sprinkles flour on his hair and fixes it with styling gel. His leather jacket cost 100 yuan (US$14) and his glasses 10 yuan, according to China News Weekly. In the videos, he often carries a model graphics card, Nvidia’s flagship product.
Yang also recreates viral moments associated with Huang, including eating noodles from a large bowl, drinking fruit juice from the famous Chinese brand Mixue Ice Cream & Tea and practicing the pronunciation of Huang’s Chinese name in a local accent. The videos were inspired by Huang’s visits to China, where he was seen eating Beijing-style fried noodles and drinking milk tea on the street.

Yang grew up in a rural family. At 16, he worked as a factory laborer, dishwasher and noodle cook. Five years ago, he returned to his hometown to care for his parents. He had previously built an audience of more than 300,000 followers with content about rural life, but said it did not provide a stable income.
Yang said people first suggested last year that he impersonate Jensen Huang because of their similar appearance. He only began pursuing the idea seriously after videos of the Nvidia CEO gained popularity on Chinese social media.
“I heard Huang washed dishes in restaurants when he was young. I also did that,” he said.
Yang said he had been contacted by people claiming to represent Nvidia’s legal department and requesting that he remove the videos.

The rise of content creators through celebrity impersonation is becoming more common in China. Before Yang, a street food vendor gained attention because of his resemblance to Taiwanese pop singer Jay Chou. Another example is Ryan Chen, an English teacher in Chongqing who became popular online for speaking fluent English and imitating the voice and mannerisms of U.S. President Donald Trump.
