Chinese employee fired from job on boss's demand for breakfast, know the whole incident

In a surprising turn of events, a new employee at a Chinese academic firm, surnamed Lu, is fired from her job after refusing to bring breakfast for her boss. Lu was reportedly fired from his job for not bringing a “hot Americano and an egg” for his supervisor every morning, a demand he found unreasonable. The case gained attention after she took to the social media platform Xiaohongshu to share her experience, sparking discussions about workplace expectations and boundaries.

Lu's supervisor, Liu, expected her to bring a hot Americano, an egg, and sometimes water every morning. Lu felt that these demands were unreasonable and outside his job description. She expressed frustration on social media, saying, “I was not hired as a personal assistant, yet my boss expected me to meet his breakfast needs every morning.”

Employee fired without compensation

When Lu raised the issue with the human resources department, she expected a proper solution. Instead, he was asked to leave the company without any compensation. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), HR justified her dismissal by citing her refusal to bring food and water. The incident drew considerable criticism on social media, with many users calling for an internal investigation into the company's treatment of employees.

The company reinstated the employee

In response to the overwhelming online backlash, the company decided to reinstate Lu and fired her supervisor for making unreasonable demands on team members. Earlier this month, the company released an official statement confirming Liu's dismissal because his behavior was inappropriate.
