Chinese PLA reveals its war game against Rafale, new technologies demonstrated

China’s state TV report offered a rare glimpse of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) war games, pitting Shenyang J-16 “Red” planes against Rafale as a “Blue” strike force. The simulation was conducted in Zhuchang, in which several PLA units took part.

This war game showcased newly developed platforms that combine artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and real-time engines. However, the report does not disclose the results of this simulation or any projections.

The report says the Rafale was chosen because it represents a mature Western design, developed with a long upgrade capability and the ability to integrate modern sensors, electronic warfare, and weapons. It is a highly customizable multi-role fighter, moving towards next generation performance.

In this context, training against the Rafale is like practicing against a next-generation platform, taking the best features of the 4th generation warplane to the next level.
