New Delhi: Indian cricketer jasprit bumrah was unexpectedly mentioned during Coldplay’s concert in Mumbai on Sunday, adding a surprising twist to the band’s performance. During their iconic song “Sky Full of Stars,” Chris Martin, the band’s lead vocalist and co-founder, was captivating the audience at the DY Patil Stadium when he suddenly paused mid-performance.

Chris Martin playfully addressed the crowd, saying, “We’ve got to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play cricket backstage. Thank you very much, everybody, good night. He says he needs to bowl at me.” His words sparked excitement among the fans, leaving them wanting more. The band then decided to play the song again, but this time with the entire crowd joining in. Martin added, “We love you Jasprit. So, we are going to ask him to wait for 15 minutes. So, we would like to play the song one more time, this time with four of us and the 60,000 of you all in the same breath!”

However, it remains unclear whether Bumrah was actually at the stadium or backstage at that moment. His mention by Martin added a fun and memorable moment to the concert, but there was no confirmation of his presence. The Mumbai concert was part of Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour,’ and the band has two more shows scheduled at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday and Tuesday. Additionally, the band will perform at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26. The January 26 concert will be streamed live exclusively on Disney+Hotstar.

Coldplay’s return to India has been highly anticipated. The band had previously performed in India in 2016 at the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai. Along with Chris Martin, the band includes guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey. Jasprit Bumrah has been added to the Indian squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2025putting an end to the discussion on his fitness.
