Christmas Island is a 2023 TV film directed by David Weaver. It has received a rating of 6.7/10 on IMDb and is a holiday and romance film.
The plot is simple yet engaging. Kate, the protagonist, is a manager to Denven, a musician. He always underestimates her. However, Kate is very talented. She writes good poetry and sings well, too. It is here that destiny plays a role, and Kate is able to escape from the clutches of selfish Denven.
She goes back to her hometown Miracle. How that happens is something I will leave to the imagination of the spectator.
It’s happiness that Kate runs into Luke who plays a fatherly role to his brother’s son Wester. Luke and Kate are embroiled in each other because of their common love and interest in music.
It so happens that the annual Christmas fare cum concert is up on the list and the performers-the singers and the band back out at the last minute.
Shirleen the organiser has her eyes fixed on Luke and Kate. Both Luke and Kate save her from the embarrassment she might have had to face in case of no music and singers for the festival.
The festival is successful and brings together all lovers. Do Kate and Luke get together? Kate’s father and his mistress Debbie tie the knot as well.
Love is in the air. How does Kate figure out that Denven is not meant for her? Will Denven and Luke kill each other over Kate? Who will Kate finally end up with? Luke or Denven?
What about Wester? Will he be willing to accept the big change in Luke’s life?
The Christmas carols that Kate and Luke sing together are mesmerising. They both have a sweet voice like that of a nighting gale. Kate plays the piano well too just like her mother. Is Kate truly happy? Who does she want to ditch-Luke or Denven?
Who is a better choice? The selfish prune Denven or the humble, supportive, down-to-earth and loving Luke?
The cinematography is fantastic. The setting in the snow, the decorations of Christmas with the blue and green shiny balls on the Christmas tree and the fairy lights around there give off a scent of celebration and festivity!
Christmas is no doubt an event that must be rejoiced and revealed. The sheer white snow contrasted with the colours of Christmas create a magnificent aura.
The Christmas season strikes off with love in the ambience. Cupid strikes his arrow upon star-crossed lovers. Christmas is a reason to unwind the baggage of the past and start anew. It is a festival that spreads love and mercy. It is about forgiving your enemies and embracing your loved ones and enemies with open arms.
In conclusion, the film Christmas Island is a fun-filled and colourful film. It starts on a selfish streak but ends on a positive note. It sums up in a nutshell how the spirit of Christmas cuts out all negativity and paves the way for happiness and good luck.
