Material:

  • 250 gms cottage cheese (cut into pieces)
  • 2 onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (make puree)
  • 1 green chilli (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup curd (whipped)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup cream (optional)
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • Green coriander (for garnishing)

Method:

1. Lightly Frying the Paneer:

  • First of all, fry the paneer pieces in a little oil so that they become light golden in colour. This enhances the taste of paneer even more. After frying, keep the paneer on a side.

2. Making the Gravy:

  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds, cloves and bay leaves. When the cumin seeds start crackling, add finely chopped onions and fry them till they turn light golden brown.
  • Now add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies. Fry for a few seconds.
  • Then add tomato puree and spices (turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder). Fry this masala till the oil starts separating.

3. Adding curd and cream:

  • When the masala is roasted well, then add whipped curd to it and let it cook on medium flame.
  • If you like creamy gravy, you can also add cream to it. Adding cream makes the gravy even more rich and delicious.

4. Adding Paneer:

  • Now add lightly fried paneer and garam masala and mix it well.
  • Cover and cook for some time so that the paneer absorbs the flavour of the spices well.

5. Decoration and Serving:

  • Paneer masala is ready. Garnish it with green coriander and serve with hot chapati, paratha or naan.
