The meat used to make kofta can include beef, chicken, pork, lamb or mutton. Here are some kofta recipes: Palak Kofta, Lauki Kofta Koftas are a delicious and popular Indian dish. Here is an easy potato and paneer kofta recipe:

Material:

for koftas:

  • 2-3 Potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 100 gms Paneer (grated)
  • 1/2 cup rice flour (or gram flour)
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

For the gravy:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 inch ginger (grated)
  • 2-3 green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (puree)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Green coriander (for garnishing)

Method:

  1. Mix the Ingredients: Add boiled potatoes, grated paneer, rice flour, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala and salt in a large bowl. Mix well.

  2. Make the Koftas: Make the mixture into small balls.

  3. FryHeat oil in a pan and fry the balls till they become golden brown and crispy. Then remove and keep on tissue paper.

Making the Gravy:

  1. Heat the oilHeat oil in a pan. Add onion and fry till golden brown.

  2. Add ginger and chilli: Add ginger and green chillies, and sauté for a few minutes.

  3. Tomato Puree: Now add tomato puree and cook for 5-7 minutes, until oil starts separating.

  4. Mix the spices: Add turmeric, coriander powder, and Kashmiri red chili powder. Mix well and fry for 2-3 minutes.

  5. Add cream: Add cream and cook till it boils. Add salt to taste.

Serving:

  1. Add the koftas: Add the fried koftas to the prepared gravy and mix lightly.

  2. Servings: Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
