Mohammad Yusuf resigned from the post of selector, know the whole matter? (Lead-1)

New Delhi, September 29 (IANS). The chaos in Pakistan cricket is showing no sign of stopping. From captaincy reshuffle, players' form to PCB management, their problems are increasing. Meanwhile, a big step by Mohammad Yusuf has further increased the problems of Pakistan.

Mohammad Yousuf has resigned from the post of selector of Pakistan cricket team. He took this decision before the Test series starting against England.

His decision comes a few weeks after Pakistan suffered a humiliating 2-0 Test series defeat against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. This defeat has raised many questions on Babar's army and its capability. Additionally, they also suffered huge losses in the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Yousuf was part of the selection panel that selected Pakistan's squad for the Men's T20 World Cup in June. The Babar Azam-led team's performance in the tournament was very poor and they were eliminated in the group stage.

Yousuf was part of the selection panel that picked Pakistan's squad for the recently held T20 World Cup, where the team failed to progress beyond the group stage.

He was appointed as a selector by the PCB in March 2024, and was retained in the position, despite intense criticism following the team's poor performance in the T20 World Cup.

However, the defeat to Bangladesh proved decisive as Yousuf decided to step down before the first Test against England starting on 7 October.

Yousuf posted on And proud to have contributed to the success. I have full confidence in the talent and spirit of the players and wish the team all the best for the future.

He was also the head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team, which finished third in the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 in South Africa.

As a player, Yousuf has appeared in 90 Tests, 288 ODIs and three T20 Internationals, scoring over 17,000 international runs, including 39 centuries and 97 half-centuries.

Pakistan's struggle in the World Test Championship is clearly visible as they are currently placed eighth in the points table with only 16 points. The team has won only two of its seven matches.
