IND vs NZ: Tim Southee eclipses Sultan of Multan, Virender Sehwag's big record shattered, see Rohit Sharma's reaction in the video

Cricket News Desk. Tim Southee, who left the captaincy before the Test series against India, batted brilliantly in the Bangalore Test. He broke Virender Sehwag's record by hitting 3 sixes before lunch on the third day. He has left behind Virender Sehwag, known as the Sultan of Multan, in the list of batsmen who have hit the most number of sixes in his Test career. Virender Sehwag has hit 91 sixes in 104 Test matches while Tim Southee has hit 92 sixes in 103 matches.

When he came to bat, Matt Henry's wicket had fallen and New Zealand's score was 233 runs. From here, Tim Southee batted brilliantly with Indian origin batsman Rachin Ravindra. Just before lunch, Southee hit a powerful six off Mohammed Siraj over backward square leg and edged past Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag's image was that of an aggressive batsman. He was famous for hitting more sixes than fours, but here Tim Southee, famous for his fast bowling, has done wonders in fewer matches and fewer innings. This is Tim Southee's 148th innings, while opener Virender Sehwag has batted in 180 innings of 140 matches in his career. If seen, Tim Southee was even faster than Sehwag in hitting sixes.

Another interesting thing here is that Saudi does not have a single century in his name in Test, whereas Virender Sehwag has 23 centuries and 32 half-centuries in his name. Brian Lara of West Indies is also behind Saudi in this list. He has 88 sixes in his name in 131 matches. However, the record of hitting most sixes in Test is in the name of Ben Stokes, while Indian captain Rohit currently has 87 sixes in his name.
