Even though Rishabh Pant missed out on scoring a century, he created history and shattered Dhoni's record. Rishabh Pant played an inning of 99 runs in 105 balls with the help of 9 fours and 5 sixes.

Rishabh Pant made a great record during this innings itself. He became the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to score 2500 runs in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in just 62 innings. Earlier this record was held only in the name of former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni had made this record in 69 innings.

Whereas Farooq Engineer had taken 82 innings. Rishabh Pant achieved another achievement during his half-century innings. He became jointly the second Indian batsman to score the most innings of 50 or more runs. He has scored 500 or more runs for the 18th time in his Test career.
