Alt Balaji Telefilm Limited gives clarification on Ekta Kapoor's POCSO case

Mumbai, October 22 (IANS). After a case was registered against Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor under the POCSO Act for showing obscene scenes of minor girls in an episode of the series 'Gandii Baat', TV giant Alt Balaji Telefilm Limited has given a clarification.

Let us tell you that a case was registered against Ekta and her mother Shobha Kapoor under the POCSO Act for allegedly showing obscene content about minor girls in an episode of the production house's web series 'Gandi Baat'. According to reports, Mumbai Police has registered a case against Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Alt Balaji firm under the POCSO Act.

A statement issued by Ekta's ALTBalaji Telefilm Limited read, “In the context of various media reports regarding the web series 'Gandii Baat', ALT Digital Media Entertainment Limited (the 'Company') clarifies that it is fully compliant with the POCSO Act. It is fully compliant with all applicable laws including the Act and the allegation made against the company regarding minors is absolutely false.

The statement said that Shobha and Ekta are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.

It is also clarified that Shobha Kapoor and Ekta R Kapoor are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and are managed by separate teams, including its content strategy.

“It is also clarified that Shobha Kapoor and Ekta R Kapoor are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and it is managed by separate teams, including content,” the statement said.

It further said, “The company has full confidence in the judiciary and is fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. Since the matter is sub-judice, the company refrains from commenting.”

According to the report, a case was registered against Alt Balaji Telefilm Limited's Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor under the POCSO Act on October 20. The mother-daughter duo were called for the first round of questioning on October 22.

According to Mumbai Police, both will appear for further questioning on October 24.
