Now it has come to light that due to the update being received by this app, users will be able to make calls or send SMS without unlocking the phone.

The recent APK teardown of the beta version of the Google app by Android Authority has revealed that many new features will be made a part of the Gemini AI Assistant. The publication has hinted that with the new functionality, calls can be made or messages can be sent through Gemini even when the phone is locked. The company has already included many features of Google Assistant in Gemini.

New option visible in settings
Like Google Assistant, users will get new settings related to Gemini, where they will be able to decide whether this AI tool can be used when the device is locked or not. Apart from this, the toggle to make calls or send messages from the lock screen can also be enabled here. This feature is quite useful because due to some functions not being available in Gemini, it has to switch back to Google Assistant. Now many things can be done without unlocking the phone.

The new feature appears after going to the 'Gemini on Lock Screen' setting of the Google app. It is listed with the 'Call and send messages without unlocking' toggle and can be easily enabled. Google has clarified that before receiving any kind of personal content or showing app notifications, Gemini Assistant will ask to unlock the device, so that personal notifications are not leaked and privacy is maintained.
