Champion Garhwal finally lost after four years!

New Delhi, October 24 IANS. DSA Premier League-Two winners Garhwal Heroes faced a crushing defeat at the hands of Delhi FC in a one-sided match of the third Premier League played at the Ambedkar Stadium here today. After a goalless draw at half time, Delhi FC took complete control of the game in the second half and won the match 3-1.

This is the first defeat of Garhwal Heroes FC at the hands of DFC in the last four years. The winning team not only proved Garhwal superior in every field of the game but also scored excellent goals. G Gayari, Sajal Bagh and Akash Tirkey scored the goals for the winners. Milind Negi scored the only goal of defeated Garhwal on a penalty in the last minute.

In the first match of the day, Indian Air Force held Sudeva FC to a 2-2 draw after trailing. Like always, the Air Force once again showed its aggressive attitude after the intermission and shared the points with Sudeva FC adorned with young players.

Sudeva took the lead in the 40th minute with a goal by Jajo Prashan and strengthened the lead five minutes later with a goal by Lamllian. But as per their mood, the Air Force team looked aggressive in the second half. Puneet Singh came back into the fight by scoring a goal in the 52nd minute. At a time when Air Force was on the verge of defeat, Player of the Match Samuel Vanlalpeka surprised Sudeva FC by scoring a goal.

The match played between Garhwal and Delhi FC was almost one-sided. It seemed as if Delhi FC entered the field with the intention of settling the score of previous defeats and died in the second half only after settling the score. The main reason for the defeat of champion Garhwal was the absurd and flawed play of its defence, while the middle and front lines gave their worst performance till date. On Friday, Hindustan has to play Friends United and Tarun Sangha has to play Vatika FC.
