Rizwan becomes the fastest Pakistani wicketkeeper to score 2000 test runs

Rawalpindi, October 25 (IANS). Mohammad Rizwan has become the fastest Pakistani wicketkeeper to complete 2000 Test runs, leaving behind the record of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Rizwan achieved this feat on the second day of the third Test against England on Friday. He achieved this feat in 57 innings, just two less than Sarfaraz, who achieved this feat in 59 innings. 32-year-old Rizwan, who is struggling in the current Test series, was 16 runs short of completing 2000 Test runs before this match.

Rizwan got a chance to achieve this feat after captain Shan Masood was out on the ball of Shoaib Bashir. He showed his aggressive intentions by hitting a six off Jack Leach at the beginning of the innings, but he could not maintain the rhythm and was out on the ball of Rehan Ahmed after scoring 25 runs with the help of a four and a six in 46 balls. . Till lunch, Pakistan was struggling at 187/7 in 62 overs.

Rizwan's last Test century came in the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, in which he scored 171 not out and 51. However, he was unable to score a single half-century in the last four Test matches and was out cheaply, including the first two Test matches against England.

Pakistan lost two more wickets of Agha Salman (1) and Aamir Jamal (14) to Rehan in the second session before lunch.

Earlier, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali together took 9 wickets and reduced England to 267 runs in the first innings. Sajid took six wickets for 128 runs and continued his excellent performance in the series.
