Bangladesh's Zakir Ali out of second test against South Africa

Chittagong, October 28 (IANS). Bangladesh cricket team's young wicketkeeper-batsman Zakir Ali has been ruled out of the second test match against South Africa. According to the information, he suffered a head injury during practice.

Bangladesh physio Baijdul Islam Khan said Zakir Ali suffered a head injury while batting during practice on Sunday. He has suffered similar injuries before. Given his past injury history, he may take some time to recover.

Bangladesh is currently trailing 0-1 in the two-match home series. The second match will start from Tuesday.

Wicketkeeper batsman Zakir scored a half-century on his Test debut for Bangladesh in the second innings of the first match against South Africa. He has also played 19 T20 International matches since his debut in the format earlier this year.

Mahidul Islam has been included in Bangladesh's squad in place of Zakir. This 25 year old wicketkeeper batsman has not played any international match yet. In such a situation, eyes will be on whether he will make his debut in the next test or not.

Bangladesh currently does not need a wicketkeeper because in the first Test also, not Zakir but Liton Das took up this responsibility. In such a situation, the Bangladeshi team can also give a chance to an experienced batsman in the playing-11. Mahidul has played 43 first-class matches, scoring 1,934 runs at an average of 30.
