From Azhar to Sreesanth, the five Indian cricketers who were trapped in match fixing.

Cricket News Desk. Sensational revelation of corruption in international cricket. A documentary broadcast on Al Jazeera channel on Sunday revealed that a total of 15 international matches were fixed in the year 2011-12. According to the documentary, spot-fixing took place 26 times in 15 international matches between 2011 and 2012. According to the information, 7 matches were fixed by England, 5 by Australia, 3 by Pakistan and one match was fixed by cricketers from other countries.

The biggest match-fixing scandal in cricket history came to light in 2000 during the series between India and South Africa. Delhi Police revealed that five players each from both the teams were in contact with bookies to fix the match.

Team India captain Mohammad Azharuddin and South Africa captain Hansie Cronje were accused. Cronje initially denied the allegations, but later admitted that Azhar had introduced him to the bookie. Azhar and Ajay Jadeja were later banned for life. Cronje died in a plane crash in 2002.

In 2013, cricketers Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandoulia of IPL team Rajasthan Royals were arrested on charges of spot-fixing in IPL matches. Delhi Police has claimed that Sreesanth and Chavan have admitted to being involved in spot fixing.

This scandal revealed that large-scale match-fixing and spot-fixing was going on in the IPL. Later Sreesanth got a clean chit from the court but BCCI did not lift the ban on him.

Manoj Prabhakar, one of India's legendary all-rounders, was banned for five years due to fixing allegations, bringing his career to an end. He was accused of having links with many bookies.

In Indian cricket, Ajay Sharma was considered the fastest first-class run-scorer with an average of 67.46. He made many records in domestic matches. But after being accused of match fixing, Ajay Sharma's cricket career ended completely.

Indian cricket team's star player Ajay Jadeja was counted among the best fielders. Along with Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja was also found guilty of match fixing, after which BCCI banned them for five years. After this Jadeja knocked on the door of the court. When the hearing took place, no one presented their side and the case was dismissed. However, later Jadeja was allowed to play in domestic matches.
