Toyota's upcoming hybrid car will run 25KM in 1 liter fuel, features and technology will force you to buy it.
Car News Desk – Toyota India will announce the prices of its new, ninth generation Camry on December 11. Toyota will introduce the new sedan with a new design inside and out, which will be launched globally in late 2023. The Toyota Camry has more features than before and comes only with a petrol-hybrid powertrain. The new Camry will replace the outgoing car which will be on sale in India from 2019. It previously received a mid-life update in 2022.
A look at the exterior design of the new Toyota Camry
The latest generation Camry sticks to the tried and tested formula compared to its older models. Talking about its external design, it is completely new, it is built on the modular TNGA-K platform of the older model. This platform is used in many Toyota and Lexus cars and SUVs around the world. Talking about the design, the new car is clearly a reworked version of the car available on sale. It is slightly longer in size, but has the same wheelbase as the current car.
The face of the new Camry is very similar to that of Lexus, especially the chin, which is specially designed. The use of advanced lighting also means the headlight pods are compact, with LED daytime running lights adding much-needed character. On the sides of the car, Toyota has created more defined lines and at the rear, the large tail-lights have been replaced with 'C' shaped units.
Interior and features of the new Toyota Camry
Meanwhile, the interior of the new Camry will see a major makeover with an all-new dashboard layout with two digital screens. Its instrumentation is relayed through a 7-inch screen. Infotainment duties are handled by a floating 12.3-inch touchscreen setup. It is expected to have a JBL sound system, a head-up display, a digital key and some other tech-related features.
The new Camry, like the existing model, will be aimed at driver-owner buyers, especially for markets like India. Toyota has provided recline function in the rear seat and these seats come with ventilation. Controls for blinds and other features are placed between the seats. It will also come with the Toyota Safety Sense bundle, which includes ADAS features like Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Reduction, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Pre-Collision Braking System, etc.
Powertrain and specifications of the new Toyota Camry
The new Camry has been launched with a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine. This engine is paired with two electric motors, whose combined output will generate a power of 227hp. Like many other Toyota hybrids, shifting for the Camry's hybrid powertrain is done by an eCVT gearbox. The company claims that the new Camry will give a mileage of around 25kpl. It is also expected to deliver higher efficiency than the existing model's 19.1kpl.
Toyota will assemble the new Camry locally at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka from imported kits. Japanese brand Toyota will announce the prices of the new Camry next month, with deliveries starting next year, reports Autocar. This car will also be displayed at Toyota's stall at the India Mobility Show to be held in January.
