The movie shows the loneliness of people in the hustle and bustle of cities, definitely watch this film which made a splash in Cannes.
Entertainment News Desk – A film gets the Grand Prix Award at the Cannes Film Festival, but here that film does not easily get a theater or OTT platform. Perhaps it will be called a tragedy of cinema that nowadays good films are only destined for festivals and praises. But Rana Daggubati decided to release this film all over India after Kerala and for this he should be praised because if cinema says something then it should be heard and this film of Payal Kapadia also says something.
Story
This is the story of Prabha, Anu and Parvati. Prabha is the head nurse in the hospital and has come to Mumbai from outside. Anu has also come from outside and works in Prabha's team. Parvati also works in the same hospital, Prabha's parents get her married and after marriage her husband goes to Germany. She did not get a call from her husband for a year, yes the pressure cooker definitely came. Anu falls in love with a Muslim doctor and her parents want her to get married as per their wish. Both belong to different religions and hence they are not able to meet each other openly. The builder is threatening Parvati to vacate the house and that she should not leave her house. All three have different problems in Mumbai but then they take a decision, what happens to that decision which brings happiness in their life. To know this you should go to the theatre.
how is the movie
The film starts with the hustle and bustle of Mumbai, everything that you have seen a thousand times but then the film shows something that we are not able to see in the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. Loneliness, suffocation, this film slowly but surely captures you. You get connected to the story, many of the dialogues in the film are in Malayalam, so if you do not understand Malayalam, do not take your eyes off the subtitles, otherwise you will miss the story of the film. If you have also left your home and city to work in another city, then you will be able to feel this film and even if you have not come, you will also be able to feel what people coming from outside feel. This film tells that Mumbai accepts everyone but perhaps cannot give the magical hug. This film is a cinema that says something and when a film says something amidst the noise, it should be heard because there are very few films that are able to say something.
acting
Kani Kusruti has done wonders in the role of Prabha, she has presented the pain and loneliness present in Prabha's life very well on screen. Divya Prabha does a great job as Anu, a girl who falls in love and tries to hide it. Divya's expressions convey very well what her dilemma is. Chhaya Kadam has done an amazing job, she is a very important link in this film and she does complete justice to the character. Hrudu Haroon's performance as Anu's boyfriend is excellent.
Directing and writing
This film has been written and directed by Payal Kapadia. And both Payal's writing and direction are praiseworthy. She makes you feel the story. She makes you feel the pain of these three women. This film is definitely slow but that is the nature of this film, if it had been faster then it too would have lost its loneliness and its story in the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. Overall, we can at least respect the film which gets respect in foreign countries by watching it in the country, so definitely watch it.
