This step has been taken with the aim of preventing fraud and keeping Aadhaar records more accurate. The Unique Identification Authority of India has amended the rules. After which if you want to make any change in the name then gazette notification will be required.

The rules for changing name in Aadhar card have become more strict than before. Whether changing the whole name or some letters. Along with the gadget notification, the applicant will also have to submit any old ID proof in which his/her old name is written. This includes PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, Service ID Card, Passport etc. Not only this, if the user is going to change the name then he will get only two chances. UIDAI has said (via) that only 2 attempts will be given to the applicant.

At the same time, if you want to update your address or get a new enrollment done, now the process for this has been simplified. For this, now passbook of any public sector bank can also be presented. But for this, applicants will also have to obtain a certificate from the bank branch manager, confirming that the address is recorded in the bank records and the e-KYC process has been completed.

The rules have become strict in the matter of correction in date of birth. For applicants below 18 years of age, only birth certificate issued by authorized state authorities will be accepted as proof. Passport and SSLC book are no longer valid for this. Therefore, if you are also going to make any such change in your Aadhar card, then definitely know these new rules, otherwise the applicant may have to face problems.
