Even without government subsidy, customers will be able to buy Honda Activa e and QC1 scooters cheaply, know what is the company's planning?
Auto News Desk – Currently, if you go to buy an electric scooter in the country, the government gives subsidy on it. Earlier it was available with the name FAME, now it has been relaunched with the name PM E-Drive. But have you ever wondered what will happen if this subsidy ends? Honda 2-Wheelers has found a solution to this and the company says that despite not getting subsidy, its electric scooters Honda Activa E and Honda QC1 will remain in people's budget. Honda has launched the Activa E with a portable battery, the battery of which can be easily replaced at its battery swapping station. Whereas, QC1 electric scooter has fixed battery. Because of this, it also gets 26 liters of under seat boot space. Both scooters offer a range of up to 102 kilometers on a single charge.
E-scooters will remain in the budget even without subsidy
Yogesh Mathur, Sales and Marketing Director, Honda 2-Wheelers, says that if we look at the growth of the EV market in the last 5 years, it has been quite volatile in terms of government subsidies (Central and State). Sometimes the government starts it and sometimes it stops it. So when we were developing Honda's electric vehicles, they were developed without any expectation of getting government subsidies. Therefore, even if they do not get government subsidy, their products will still survive in the market. ,
The company's statement clearly indicates that the price of both its products will be such that they remain competitive in the market and can also fit in people's budget. So that even if the government ends the subsidy on electric vehicles, the sales of its products will not be affected. The company has not yet announced the price of both Activa E and QC1. Their booking will start from January 1, 2025 and delivery will start from February.
The company will make a record of selling 1 lakh scooters
According to the news, Tsutsumu Otani, President and CEO of Honda 2-Wheelers India, says that they have set a target of selling 1 lakh units in a year after the launch of these electric scooters. At the same time, they have no intention of exporting them from India. The company has just launched Honda Activa E in cities like Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. The company is preparing a network of battery swapping stations for this. Therefore, you can buy this scooter without battery and also with 'Battery Rent' i.e. 'Battery as a Service' facility. The company is planning to set up at least 500 battery swapping stations in these three cities.
