This is the first time that Suyyash has become a part of RCB through this auction. His brilliant bowling and consistency led him to such a big bid. Lokesh Sharma had a special conversation with Suyyash Sharma.
Here are the highlights:-
Question- How are you feeling after coming to RCB from KKR? During the bidding, both Mumbai and RCB wanted to buy you, so which team were you thinking of playing for?
Suyash- I am feeling very good being in RCB. Everyone wants to play in RCB. This time I am lucky that I am getting a chance. During the bidding, I was just thinking that only RCB will buy me. Because there is a shortage of spinners and I will get more chances to play. Another reason to play with this team is the fan following of the team which makes you a special player.
Question- You played under Abhishek Nair and coach Chandrakant in KKR, what impact did it have on your bowling and life?
Suyash- When I was in KKR, Coach Nair and Chandrakant Pandit encouraged me. Both of them told me that you can bowl freely. There is no pressure on you. I played my debut match against RCB only. In which I took three wickets. After these wickets, coach Abhishek Nair and Pandit's confidence in me increased and I started getting more opportunities.
Question- Your father was suffering from cancer and you often had to leave the farm to visit your father in the hospital. How did Abhishek Nair and Chandrakant Pandit support you during this period?
Suyash- My father was very ill. He continued struggling till the last moments of his life. I always had this thought in my mind. I thought about quitting cricket. But, first of all my father told me on the phone – Whatever happens, fulfill your dream. When I told this to Abhishek Nair, he said that one day everyone has to go, you just have to think whether you want to make a career in cricket or leave it. Chandrakant Pandit also explained to me that quitting alcohol is not a solution to anything. I had my whole life in front of me. After this I decided that I will play.
