Rose flower is not only beautiful to look at, but its fragrance is also wonderful. Red roses are commonly found, but there are many varieties. You will find about 1600 types of roses in the Rose Garden. This rose garden is in Chandigarh.
Spread over an area of more than 30 acres, this rose garden is considered to be the largest rose garden in Asia. About 50,000 roses of 1600 varieties grow here. Apart from this, many other flowers and plants are also present here. Hundreds of species of roses are present in this garden not only from the country but also from abroad which attract people. In 1967, the first administrator of Chandigarh, Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa built the Rose Garden. This garden is called Zakir Hussain Rose Garden.
While there are roses and fountains to beautify the Rose Garden, the Chandigarh administration has built an underpass between Sector-17 Plaza and the Rose Garden to make it attractive for tourists. The greenery planted inside the under bridge not only gives a different identity to the city but also gives a special experience to the tourists coming here. Along with this, various types of performances are organized throughout the year inside this under bridge which promote artists of different levels. This underpass connects Rose Garden to Sector-17.
