At the end of the year, the biggest discount offer ever on Citroen Basalt SUV, gives competition to Tata Curvv in terms of features.

Car News Desk – Citroen India is offering great year end discounts on its cars at the end of this year. The all-new Basalt Coupe SUV is also included in this list. The company is giving a discount of Rs 80,000 on Basalt in the remaining days of December. Within a month of the launch of Basalt, the company delivered 579 units of it. However, after this its sales have declined.

The company sold 341 units in September, 221 units in October and 47 units in November. In India, its direct competition is with Tata Curve. In such a situation, to increase the sales of Basalt, the company is giving discounts on its different variants this month. Basalt has been launched in a total of four trims U, Plus, Max and Max Dual Tone. Two engine options are given in it. Current prices of basalt range from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.95 lakh. The coupe SUV also received a 4-star safety rating in the recent India NCAP crash test.

Features and specifications of Citroen Basalt
The front end of the Basalt is very similar to the Citroen C3 Aircross, with which it shares its underpinnings. It also has similar styled DRLs, headlamp cluster, grille and placement of the air intake at the front. The Basalt's design is clean from the side, as it has a coupe roofline that runs down from the B-pillar to a high deck lid with an inbuilt spoiler lip. It rides on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Talking about its interior, its layout is similar to the C3 Aircross, with elements like its dashboard design and 10.25-inch central touchscreen taken from it. Unlike the Aircross, it has a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument display. It has adjustable under-thigh support for the rear seats. Basalt also has a 15-watt wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and connected car technology.

Talking about its powertrain, it has two petrol engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.2 liter petrol engine, which produces 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. It is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Basalt also has the option of 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which comes with 108 bhp and 195 Nm. It comes with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Talking about color options, 5 single-tone options will be available in it, which include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Garnet Red and Cosmo Blue. White and red color roof will also be available in these. All its variants and their prices will be announced in the coming days. In India, it will compete with models like Tata Curve, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta.
