Will toll tax really not be deducted at these 7 toll booths for 45 days, NHAI told what is the truth?
Auto News Desk – As the date of Maha Kumbh is approaching, the authorities of Prayagraj district have started preparations to successfully conduct this Maha Kumbh. In this year's Maha Kumbh, about 40 crore devotees from India and abroad will come to the holy place at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Expect to come for a bath. Amidst the large-scale preparations going on for the fair, such news is going viral that the Uttar Pradesh government has announced to waive toll at the toll booths of the highway leading to Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh. But now NHAI has given its clarification.
Fee waived at seven toll booths
Earlier news had come that the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to waive this fee at seven toll booths in the state during the Mahakumbh festival. These seven toll booths are in different districts, through which thousands of vehicles come and go every day. It is being told that the purpose of this decision of the Yogi government is to ease the journey of the devotees coming to the Mahakumbh Mela starting in January. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has also started preparations for this initiative. But now after clarification from NHAI, it has been decided that no decision like toll free will be taken during Kumbh.
Explanation from NHAI
Giving clarification on this entire matter, NHAI has said that “It is being reported in some sections of the media that vehicles going to 'Kumbh Mela' will be provided toll-free route on the national highways in Prayagraj. This is to be clarified. That no such proposal is under consideration, the user fee on National Highways is charged as per the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008 and rebate is provided as per the defined guidelines.”
