The constitution of the Indian Cricket Board states that any vacant post must be filled within 45 days by calling an SGM (Special General Meeting). The next SGM of BCCI will be held within 43 days of the deadline. In such a situation, there is full hope that in the special meeting of the General Body to be held on January 12, a new Secretary and Treasurer will be elected in place of Jai Shah and Ashish Shelar.

A graduate from Ramjas College, Delhi, A.K. Jyoti is originally from Punjab. Born on 24 January 1953, A.K. Jyoti's father was working in Military Engineering Service in Delhi. At the age of just 22, he became an IAS officer in his first attempt. At that time he was the youngest officer in the country. He became an IAS officer in 1975. Achal retired from the post of Chief Election Commissioner of Gujarat in January 2013.
