Jnanpith Award winner Vasudevan Nair's condition still critical

Thiruvananthapuram, December 22 (IANS). The condition of famous Malayalam writer and Jnanpith Award winner M.T. Vasudevan Nair still remains critical. Let us tell you that he is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kozhikode.

According to hospital sources, the medicines are not having much effect on Nair. His condition remains critical.

He has been admitted to the emergency ward of Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode for cardiac problems.

Hospital officials have observed slight improvement in his health. Only limited effect of treatment is being seen on Nair. However, the medical bulletin issued by the hospital emphasized that his condition still remains critical.

Many prominent personalities are reaching the hospital to get information about the health of this much-discussed literary figure.

Let us tell you that Nair, honored with the Padma Bhushan award, is considered a symbol of Malayalam literature and cinema.

He has won four National Film Awards for screenwriting and has directed seven films, while he has written the stories of about 54 films.

His stories are now available in book form, considered essential for aspiring filmmakers.

Nair has received several prestigious awards over the years, including the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award, the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, the Vayalar Award, the Vallathol Award, the Ezhuthachan Award, the Mathrubhumi Sahitya Award and the O.N.V. Literary awards included.

In 2013, he received the J.C. Award for lifetime achievement in Malayalam cinema. Awarded the Daniel Award. In 2022 he received the Kerala Jyothi Award, the highest civilian honor given by the Government of Kerala.

In 1995, Nair was awarded the Jnanpith, India's highest literary honour, for his outstanding contribution to literature.

He also served as the editor of the Mathrubhumi weekly for many years.
