Before Dar, these stars were going to become 'Psycho Rahul', know why Daya rejected the role that made SRK a superstar.
entertainment news desk – You must have seen many such films in which the villain becomes hateful the moment you see him. The villain had to face people's hatred in real life too. But 26 years ago, a rare film was released in which the audience appreciated and sympathized with the villain more than the hero. This movie is fear. The story of Yash Chopra's superhit film Darr, released in 1993, revolves around Kiran (Juhi Chawla), Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) and Sunil Malhotra (Sunny Deol). Rahul loves Kiran madly, but Kiran falls in love with Sunil. He starts chasing Kiran and tries to kill Sunil. Shahrukh Khan played the character of Rahul Mehra very well. This film made him a star overnight.
Shahrukh himself was going to reject Darr
Shahrukh may have gained popularity due to fear, but earlier he himself was going to reject this film. Actually, he got the role of villain in Baazigar. During that time he was also offered Darr. The actor was afraid that playing the role of a villain would spoil his image but it did not happen. Instead of becoming a villain, he became the hero of the audience. But do you know that Shahrukh was not the first choice for this role. Many actors had got this role before him. The director did not agree to Aamir's condition. Before Shahrukh, this film was offered to Aamir Khan but due to one of his conditions, he was removed from the film. In an interview given to Sushma Dutt, Aamir Khan said about this, “Yash Chopra is a very good director.
I have worked with him in the tradition and was very keen to work with him again. But I have a principle or rather a policy that if I am working on a film with two heroes, then I ask for joint narration from the director.” Aamir Khan further said, “I want the director to narrate both the heroes together. Tell me. This approach ensures that we are both satisfied with our roles and helps avoid any problems later on. I like to work this way but in this case it was not possible. Yash ji did not feel that they should narrate the story jointly. On this basis I was removed from the project.”
Rahul Roy regrets leaving the film
Apart from Aamir Khan, actor Rahul Roy, who became popular with Aashiqui, was also offered a role. Not only this, the script was also written keeping the actor in mind. But this could not happen. On The Kapil Sharma Show, when Archana Puran Singh asked Rahul which role he regretted turning down, the actor said, “I was offered a film and I spoke to Yash Chopra and Honey Teheran. Later, the film Fear was created and the character of Rahul was written keeping me in mind. So that's my biggest regret that I couldn't do that film, but you learn to live with it.”
Ajay Devgan was also offered the film
Yash Chopra had also approached Ajay Devgan for the role of Rahul Mehra in Darr, but due to being busy with a film, the actor did not show interest in Darr, after which he lost the role.
