MediaTek's new Dimensity 8400 SoC processor launched, will enjoy excellent gaming with powerful AI technology
Tech News Desk – MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 8400 SoC, upgrading last year's Dimensity 8300. It offers an all-big core design for premium smartphones and features the Dimension Agentic AI Engine (DAE) for advanced AI applications. Powered by an eight-core Arm Cortex-A725 processor clocked up to 3.25GHz, the chipset boasts 41% better multi-core performance and 44% lower peak power usage compared to its previous version. The Arm Mali-G720 GPU is also claimed to deliver 24% more performance and 42% more efficiency, equipped with MediaTek's Frame Rate Converter and Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0. Additionally, the MediaTek NPU 880 supports global AI models, while the Imagick 1080 ISP ensures better HDR and high-resolution imaging.
MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 8400 chipset, which will power premium models in the future. It is the successor to the Dimensity 8300 SoC. MediaTek has claimed that the new SoC will deliver better performance and efficiency compared to the previous version and is also equipped with DAE for AI applications. It includes a powerful NPU for Gen-AI tasks. MediaTek says the Dimensity 8400 SoC features an octa-core Arm Cortex-A725 processor clocked at 3.25GHz.
Via press release, the company said that the new SoC promises 41% higher multi-core performance than the Dimensity 8300. It promises a 44% reduction in peak power usage compared to its previous model. The paired Mali-G720 GPU promises 24% higher peak performance and 42% higher energy efficiency compared to the Dimensity 8300. The GPU works in conjunction with MediaTek Frame Rate Converter (MFRC), which optimizes game and app performance in real time for smoother gameplay, and MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) 3.0.
The MediaTek Imagic 1080 ISP leverages QPD Remosaic technology to capture more light, focus faster and more accurately, and produce higher-resolution images. The NPU 880 of the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset supports all major LLM/SLM/LMM across the world. The 5G-A modem present in it boasts of 3CC-CA and performance up to 5.17Gbps.
