Cricket News Desk. A sad news has shaken the cricket world. A 39-year-old cricketer has died suddenly. Former Bengal Ranji Trophy player Suvojit Banerjee died of a heart attack on Monday. Due to which a wave of mourning ran in the entire family. Former Bengal cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla has expressed grief over his demise. Suvojit represented Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Experience of playing in Ranji Trophy
Suvojit made his debut for Bengal in the 2014 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Odisha and also played three Ranji Trophy matches. According to family members, Banerjee was taking a nap after breakfast at his home in Solapur. A few hours later, the 39-year-old player did not answer his parents' calls. After this doctors were called. They declared Suvojit dead.
What did Lakshmi Ratan Shukla say?
Suvojit was still playing local cricket. The Times of India quoted Lakshmi Ratan Shukla as saying, “He was a friendly and charming man. His performance in domestic cricket attracted everyone's attention at that time and his selection in the Bengal team was as expected.”
Suvojit was a right handed batsman.
A right-handed batsman and part-time off-spinner, Suvojit played for East Bengal in domestic cricket from 2008–09 to 2016–17. He led the team twice. His death has surprised everyone including Bengal cricket.
